When Change Finds You, Welcome It

Do you run when a change presents itself? Do you feel afraid, anxious and suffer from anxiety. Can you see a change quickly approaching? Possibly it is changing your diet and working out to moving or changing professions. We all encounter changes in our lives, it is part of the human experience. Changes, I feel are for personal growth. This is how we evolve and learn from our world. More importantly we learn about ourselves. Changes "push us" to expand. If we change our frame of minds we can teach ourselves to welcome change, rather hiding from it. I would like to encourage you to shift your thinking and embrace the changes in your life.
Let's say your boss comes to you and informs you of a position opening up. This would be a favorable promotion for you. Instead of being pleased by your abilities, work ethic and talents, you start to feel self doubt. You begin to fill your mind with confusion, apprehension and uncertainty. These hurtful thoughts begin to snowball. Soon you are believing the myths and now you are discrediting your talents and abilities. I want to help this from happening to you. If a promotion were to "knock at your door, answer it and welcome it". Think about this for a moment, you are being offered this advance because you are capable, dedicated and skilled. If you had not proven yourself previously, you never would have been considered today. Now, fill your mind with loving and productive thoughts. Believe that you can and you will succeed. See the change as a new adventure. If you close the door to the opportunity, when do you think it will find you again? Start today and welcome the changes that find you.

Stay tuned to more adventures

  1. Great Post!
Before reading it, I probably would have described myself as a person who generally looks forward to and accepts it well. After having read through your post a couple of times though, I now realize that it is only the change that I have no real control over that I am freely willing to accept. Truth is, It takes courage to embrace change and in my own life it has always been a matter of comfort of the known vs fear of the unknown. Change brings with it the risk of failure. But as you previously mentioned, Change should challenge us and “push us” to expand in our personal growth.
As a person who usually runs the opposite direction from any self controlled change, I find this very challenging. But I will try to surrender to change, And trust in my own God given talents and abilities.

Thanks for being a part of “my experience” and for affecting my personal growth today. - OJ

  2. Hey Gina, glad to see you back at it! You hit the nail on the head. Many of us respond to change with apprehension and fear, being the creatures of habit we are. We should, like you suggest, try to be open and embrace change as beneficial, or at least regard it as a potential blessing in disguise (which is often the case). It's all about perspective and a good measure of faith.

    Love,
    Lisa
